What is jewellery design?
Jewellery design sits at the intersection of art, materials science, and craft. Designers sketch, plan, and prototype pieces that are then made in metal and stone. It is one of the oldest applied art forms — and one of the most technology-adjacent today.
A jewellery designer thinks in three layers at once: the visual (silhouette, proportion, ornament), the material (metal, stone, finish), and the wearable (fit, weight, movement). Modern practice adds CAD, 3D printing, and cinematic rendering to the traditional bench. FSJD trains for all three.
